Mr. Purushottam Kafle, a registered veterinarian from Nepal has joined the Veterinary Epidemiology Lab at Rakuno Gakuen University(RGU) as a researcher under JVMA TPFAV 2026 scholarship.

He is specializing in advanced statistical analysis and the Descriptive Epidemiology of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in Nepal. LSD is a major threat to livestock in Nepal, and his research aims to track outbreak patterns and map the disease to build better control strategies back in Nepal.

Epidemiology allows us to protect whole populations rather than individual animals. Learning these advanced data tools at  RGU under Prof. Kohei Makita, I am excited to bring this skills back to Nepal’s Veterinary Sector. I am proud to be a part of this team and look forward to building upon this foundation throughout his journey ahead, while strengthening the connection between Japanese and Nepalese veterinary Sector.:”- Purushottam Kafle
