Postgraduate study opportunity

 The Veterinary Epidemiology Unit conducts postgraduate education in the Master’s Program (Veterinary Health and Nursing Major) and the Doctoral Program (Veterinary Medicine Major) at the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, and welcomes the participation of graduate students.

We are implementing education and research with the scope described below for the master’s and doctoral courses. Internationally, the importance of veterinary epidemiology is recognized, and demand is increasing. If you are interested, please consult with the faculty members of this unit.

Master’s Program (Veterinary Health and Nursing Major)

The admission policy for the Graduate School Master’s Program (Veterinary Health and Nursing Major) is as follows.

“The purpose of this course is to nurture a rich sense of humanity that respects life and nature through education and research in veterinary medicine, veterinary nursing, animal health, and related sciences, which are becoming increasingly diverse and sophisticated, and to develop human resources who will contribute to welfare of human and animals, harmony and coexistence between animal, human and environment, and be responsible for education and research in the next generation of veterinary health and nursing science from an international perspective. We will accept human resources who have the ability to acquire advanced knowledge and skills related to nursing science, and who have a strong desire to continue developing it.”

In our unit, postgraduate students will have a research theme related to animal health and public health without limiting it to one subject, acquire epidemiological and statistical analysis methods, and develop appropriate measures for veterinary medicine. Postgraduate students will acquire the ability to perform analysis, consideration, and presentation of results (writing papers) on your own.

Aims

  • Be able to design an epidemiological research in line with the issues
  • Learn epidemiological analysis methods and analyze epidemiological data
  • Be able to make presentations and write papers in English about research projects and their results

Doctoral Program (Veterinary Medicine Major)

The admission policy for the Graduate School Doctoral Program (Veterinary Medicine Major) is as follows.

“The purpose of this course is to nurture a rich sense of humanity that respects life and nature through education and research in veterinary medicine, and related sciences, which are becoming increasingly diverse and sophisticated, and to develop human resources who will contribute to welfare of human and animals, harmony and coexistence between animal, human and environment, and be responsible for education and research in the next generation of veterinary medicine from an international perspective. We will accept human resources who understand our Spirit of Foundation, have the ability to acquire advanced knowledge and skills related to veterinary medicine, and who have a strong desire to continue developing it. For the enrollment, in order to confirm these abilities, an academic ability test will be conducted for English language and specialized subjects, and interviews will be conducted regarding the purpose of admission, motivation for research, degree of understanding in the specialized field, and those who meet a certain level or above will be selected.”

In our unit, which advocates a “problem-centered principle,” in response to requests related to ongoing problems, we collect, analyze, and reports the results of data, while communicating with stakeholders such as producer groups, and the national and local governments. In particular, doctoral course graduate students will efficiently acquire the ability to solve problems in projects that are already running. We also welcome the acquisition of a doctorate in the form of bringing in a project, so please contact us.
