Triple Awards for Our Unit Members at the 67th Conference of the Japanese Society of Veterinary Epidemiology
At the 67th Conference of the Japanese Society of Veterinary Epidemiology and the
2026 General Assembly, held on March 15 (Sun) at Nippon Veterinary and Life Science
University, three members of our unit received the Student Presentation Award and the
Best Paper Award.
Ms. Miyuna Kato (4th-year undergraduate student; co-authored with Dr. Toshikazu
Sakai, Dr. Tsuyoshi Kadosawa, Dr. Shingo Asakura, and Prof. Kohei Makita) presented
“Survival Analysis after Total Cystectomy in Dogs with Transitional Cell Carcinoma in
Which Partial Cystectomy Is Difficult,” and Mr. Hayato Furumoto (1st-year PhD
student; co-authored with Dr. Makoto Ukita, Dr. Shingo Asakura, Prof. Masahisa
Watarai, Dr. Coletha Mathew, Prof. Esron Karimuribo, and Prof. Kohei Makita)
presented “Serological Prevalence of Brucella spp. in Cattle Herds in Morogoro Region,
Tanzania.” Both received the Student Presentation Award.
In addition, a paper authored by Ms. Ayaka Yasuda, Dr. Makoto Ukita, and Prof. Kohei
Makita, titled “Estimation of Direct Economic Loss due to Condemnation for Enzootic
Bovine Leukosis in Dairy and Beef Cattle in Hokkaido, Japan,” received the Best Paper
Award of the Journal of Veterinary Epidemiology for 2025.
